Kanwal Speaks - February 06, 2017 at 06:42AM

Hijab was simply a protective wearing for head for the women living in extreme hot and arid weather conditions of Arabia, which later was made mandatory in tribal Arabic customs in order to keep the women covered from the eyes of 'other' men, and then afterwards it was adopted by Islam for similar reasons, more or less, but giving it religious colours, in addition; so, all in all, it may be a part of some regional entity (out of need), religious radical compulsion, or just a choice out of imposed diktat, but in no manner it could be termed as a representation of empowerment or freedom by any kind. #Kanwal
